ATTENTION PHOTOGRAPHERS and COLLECTORS: I found this 8 mm Bell & Howell 172 movie camera in my late parents' house. It was made in the USA and bought in the 1950s. I remember my dad using it, and watching the movies that he shot with it in the 1950s and 60s. I don't think that he filmed anything with it since Expo 67. The exterior of the camera looks in excellent shape - no dents or dings. Camera comes with a leather case embossed with my dad's initials and a B&H cardboard slip case. One of the metal snap fasteners on the leather case has been lost (see photo). Also included is the owner's instruction brochure, the B&H lifetime guarantee card on a string, and a letter and documents from B&H for servicing that was done in summer, 1955. The camera was put away in its leather carrying case and cardboard slipcase and stored in a closet in my parents' home for more than 50 years, until I brought it to Regina recently. I don't know how to use the camera and don't know whether it still works, but have no reason to think that it won't, except that it is very old and I simply don't know how decades of non-use might have affected its functionality. Contact me for 3 additional photos; I could post only 8 on this site. See my separate ads on this site for eleven vintage Kodak "Movie News" issues from 1953, 1954 and 1955 and a 1954 Kodak pamphlet, "Better Movies in Color", and other cameras. Pick up in Wascana View, Regina, SK. Due to current conditions, I accept Interac e-Transfer only, no cash, and pickup will be outdoors. ~ If you cannot use e-Transfer, please do not inquire ~
