$7 · MAD Magazine December 1973 - "MAD IS A FOUR-LETTER WORD" graffiti cover

ATTENTION MAD MAGAZINE FANS and COLLECTORS: This December, 1973 issue of MAD magazine, No. 163, has been in storage since 1974. I acquired it in used condition at that time. The cover has detached from the magazine and has tears along the spine, and a piece of cellophane tape, but is still all in one piece. The inside pages are still stapled together tightly. The paper has turned colour, from white to pale beige, with age, as you might expect. Although the first and last pages each have a very small rip along the outside edges, the rest of the pages are in great condition; all flat with no rips, dog-ears, stains, odours or smells. In the hilarious "MAD Look at Karate" cartoons, in the centre of the mag, someone printed a name, twice, in blue ink (see the last photo); that person happened to be taking karate lessons at the time.
