$6 · PEGGY BROWN and the Jewel of Fire, a BETTER LITTLE BOOK - vintage

ATTENTION COLLECTORS: I bought this hardcover book, used, several decades ago. Don't remember whether I bought it as a teen, or later in life, as an adult collector. Author is Kathryn Heisenfelt, publisher Whitman Publishing Company of Racine, Wisconsin, 1943. This was part way through WW2; at the back of the book, there's an ad encouraging people to buy war savings bonds and stamps. From a smoke-free house, no smells or odours and no torn or missing pages. There is a small tear in the front end-paper; see photo. There is some colouring of the illustration on page 8, and on 4 subsequent pages, which I assume was done by a child, after-market. Book measures 4.5 inches x 3 5/8 inches x 13/16 inch. The cover is scuffed, as can be seen in the photos. Pick up in Wascana View, Regina, SK.
