$150 · Singer - 31K15 - Sewing Machine

Singer - 31K15 - Sewing Machine image 1

Estate sale. This motorized Singer dates from 1951. That's 73 and counting! Based on internet forums, this model was aimed at commercial tailors. - max thread is around 69 - max depth of material is about 1/4" of compressed soft material This machine was _not_ designed for leather work. There are many detailed videos, blogs, and forum posts on refurbishing, and even upgrading these machines - https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=restore+Singer+31K15#ip=1 - https://ucansew2.blogspot.com/2011/11/singer-31k15.html?m=1 - https://theprojectlady.com/singer-31-15/ Parts are still readily available - amazing! (just try looking for part for your 73 year old refrigerator or car or ...) --- The unit is cast iron and powered by electricity. When plugged it in. The motor spins up just fine. The crank turns freely. However, it definitely requires some love before you can start sewing. The drive belt (leather) should be replaced - it is a consumable and directly affects the tension / available power. I suggest also that you do a bit of research and lubricate any parts where such is recommended. That's about the limit of my expertise on this item. --- Beautiful as a vintage furniture piece, which is how it was used at my brother's. Messages asking for a lower price will be ignored. Questions and requests to view are happily received.
