And here is the synopsis: ONE-SHEET SYNOPSIS Dr. Pathic by Alexander Kane Machiskinic LOGLINE: In this sci-fi psychological thriller adaptation that’s “Love, Death, and Robots” meets “Flowers for Algernon,” an alien survivor of war suffering from multiple personality disorder struggles to heal his mind by listening to stories from the people of his world that take him to multiple dimensions and realities. Dr. Pathic is a tale about healing and finding beauty in even the darkest places, such as war. When the script opens, grey alien DR. PATHIC, a survivor of war and trauma on his planet, lives in and with the Big Bang. The explosion that creates the universe kicks off Dr. Pathic’s story. In the psychiatric hospital on his own planet, he struggles with multiple personality disorder. He lives several different lives—for example, individuals throwing Molotov cocktails in a ritualized suburban war game after a nuclear winter, a JETPACK MAN trying to survive in space as part of a frozen mummy, a CURIOUS SEEKER who gets taken into a UFO with a nightmare maze. The sense of paranoia he endures while navigating the bizarre, dark maze with creepy clowns and eerie robots mirrors his own mental breakdown. However, the characters tell Dr. Pathic these stories, and he lives these stories, in order to heal him. In slice of life “Short Cuts” fashion, Dr. Pathic experiences stories that show him the terror and beauty of war as well as hunting for treasure, journeying into enchanted forests, and exploring Halloweenland as a HALLOWEEN GIRL, and becoming a TRAVELER facing gods. He goes through a surreal party as well where he can’t figure out what is real. As the stories increase in pain and intensity and trauma, Dr. Pathic fights a battle for his sanity while the people in the stories work to heal him. Signs of hope appear when he briefly experiences vicarious love with a beautiful blonde woman, but then the scene changes. Near the midpoint, Dr. Pathic himself makes an appearance, becoming the visible hero of a story about war where he meets Grey, an important friendly alien. But then he’s drawn into more scenes of war and explosions where people dare not be outside after curfew. Dr. Pathic’s mind pushes back and becomes more scattered, but the stories continue. He fights back through the stories, eventually revealing his evacuation from an alien colony in which the leader MICHELLE, the only named character, helps him escape. After he faces his past and lives through several more stories, Dr. Pathic fights in a tournament in which he can win gold. He wins gold, and his multiple personality disorder tries to destroy him one more time before he rises up, on his way to being cured. The people of the land come together and literally pick up the destroyed land and cure Dr. Pathic of his multi-personality disorder.
